Heart of a Hungry Hermit

Get to know us!

Hi there! Welcome to Heart of a Hungry Hermit Art & Handmade Goods!

It's our goal to provide quality handmade items for an accessible price!

Heart of a Hungry Hermit was founded by me, Scot, a queer trans artist with a love for exploring different kind of art styles. My mother is my main supporter as she donates her lovely crochet work to my shop. She uses crochet as a creative outlet to keep her busy after she fell in an accident which landed her in a wheelchair. Knowing that people love and use her work brings her a lot of joy. She uses her art as therapy to maintain a happy lifestyle all while supporting my business. A lot of what I know about creating came from her encouraging my and my brother's creativity growing up. I had a difficult time growing up with undiagnosed ADHD and mental illness, but creating art always helped me push through. When I got older I began having a hard time with getting a job because of my anxiety and ADHD which lead to me trying to start my own business selling my art. That's how I started Heart of a Hungry Hermit. Since 2018, I've been working towards making this a viable source of income all while providing quality goods for an accessible price. My mother and I both believe that handmade goods should be available to everyone. As people who experience the difficulty of disability and mental illness, we understand that people like us, as well as a lot of people like me who are in the LGBTQ+ community, sometimes struggle with being able to support small businesses and artists because of the high cost of handmade goods. Because of this we've made it our mission to make sure our goods are both high quality and affordable.

We hope you enjoy our goods and we look forward to helping you in the future!
